Media Dampens Buyer's Spirits

Recently the media has been fixated on the state of the Australian property market, stating that Australia is in a downturn - BUT THIS SIMPLY IS NOT THE CASE.

Yes there are some major cities in Australia that are going through periods of decline but every city is different and the way the media is portraying Brisbane's property market isn't helping our property transactions.

Brisbane's market is only recording a decrease of 0.5% in the past 12 months and many are arguing that this slight fluctuation is only a result of the media attention in relation to our larger cities and it influencing our market negatively. Buyers have also decreased by 15%, again due to the negative media attention scaring them off, but it must be noted that prices are still travelling relatively steadily. Brisbane is not the only major city in Australia experiencing these positive results.

March has seen a significant increase in the number of buyers at our open homes! One property saw 37 groups through its first open home and another 25 - previous to this we were lucky to see more than 10 groups at each property on the weekends. So this is a great sign that the buyers are starting to see through the media, and so they should!

If there is one thing to learn from this it is to not be scared by what is happening in Sydney and Melbourne and the negative attention in the media. Brisbane is not being affected so buy now or sell now and enjoy your next chapter!
